Atlantic

Just got back from our little trip to the beach with friends. We laughed a lot, caught hundreds of waves, had some delicious meals, found a gazillion of beautiful seashells and we all got burned, especially our backs - it's always hard to remember to re-apply sunscreen when you are having too much fun.

Совсем недавно вернулись с друзьями из поездки на океан. Мы много смеялись, поймали, наверное, не одну сотню волн, завтракали-обедали-ужинали не совсем полезной, но очень вкусной едой, нашли множество красивых ракушек, и абсолютно все сгорели на солнце - когда очень весело, забываешь о том, что солнцезащитный крем нужно наносить несколько раз.

Vineyards

We discovered these beautiful vineyards while driving back home from a lavender farm on Sunday. Both Michael and I were stunned by the beauty of this place which is located in a quiet valley at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I think I exclaimed 'It is SO GORGEOUS!' two hundred times and then I whispered it another hundred times. I couldn't say anything else because both my English and Russian vocabularies were too poor to find the right words. So instead of trying to find the right words, we decided to walk around the loveliest vineyard with the sun glistening off the ripening grapes.

Эти виноградники мы нашли совершенно случайно по пути домой с лавандовой фермы. Сказать по правде, мы оба были потрясены красотой этого удивительного места, расположенного в тихой долине у подножия гор. Я, наверное, сказала фразу "It is SO GORGEOUS!" раз 200, и ещё потом прошептала её раз сто. Запаса слов ни на английском, ни на русском не хватило, чтобы найти подходящие эпитеты для описания такой красоты. Вместо того, чтобы искать подходящие слова, мы отправились гулять вдоль виноградных лоз, светящихся в лучах заходящего солнца.

Sailabration

Sunday was amazing! We drove to Baltimore to see the Star-Sprangled Sailabration (an international parade of tall ships and naval vessels) and the weather was absolutely perfect for a day on the boat -- sunny and breezy. No need to say that our seafood dinner was beyond delicious :) If you are ever in Baltimore, try to escape all the restaurants at the Inner Harbor, go straight to Fells Point neighborhood and enjoy the restaurants there instead, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Every time I go to Baltimore, I feel nostalgic about the days spent here while in school. It feels sad that most of my friends who I met here are in different parts of the world now and I don't get to see them as often as I want to. If they see these pictures, I hope it will put a smile on their lovely faces :)

В воксресенье после завтрака с пионами (предыдущий пост) мы отправились в Балтимор, где проходил парад кораблей. Погода была идеальная, чтобы покататься на лодке, - солнечно и лёгкий бриз. Каким вкусным был ужин из морепродуктов, я думаю, говорить не стоит :) Если вы когда-нибудь окажетесь в Балтиморе, избегайте ресторанов на заливе, лучше отправляйтесь в Fells Point (райoн поблизости с заливом), там отличные местные реcторанчики, которые вас не разочаруют ни обслуживанием, ни едой. 

Каждый раз, когда я в Балтиморе, сразу подкрадывается ностальгия, и становится немного грустно, что уже прошли те дни, когда я здесь училась. Что все мои друзья, которых я здесь встретила, живут в других штатах и других частях света, и я не могу с ними видеться так часто, как того хотелось бы. Hадеюсь, что они улыбнутся, если увидят эти фотографии :)

Places: New York, Part 2

As I was cleaning out the pictures folder last night, I realized that I have bunches of photos I've never shared with you -- outfits, snaps of everyday life, etc. Thousands of pictures on my desktop and no one ever sees them... And to be honest, it made me feel guilty because the whole purpose of this blog is sharing my everyday experiences with you. Lately I've been receiving so many emails from my readers regarding the blog, and all of you were so incredibly sweet and supportive of my work. I can't thank you enough for taking your time and writing those emails. You are my inspiration guys! I definitely have to do a better job at posting and keeping you inspired :) And now another set of pictures from our NYC trip. Hope you'll enjoy them! xo

First of all, I wanted to thank every single one of you for the lovely birthday wishes!!! You are absolutely amazing and I'm grateful to have you in my life! You kept me smiling all day :)

And now some pictures from NYC! We had the most amazing time in the city yesterday. After delicious lunch and champagne we strolled down the 5th Avenue, stopping by the shops and having ice cream along the way. I hope you can feel the atmosphere of this city through the pictures.

Во-первых, хочу сказать вам большое спасибо за поздравления!!! Вы даже не представляете, как меня вчера порадовали своими добрыми словами! Спасибо вам за то, что вы у меня есть :)

Places: Georgetown

Most people associate Washington, D.C. with the White House, the Capitol and monuments. But I wanted to introduce you to Georgetown, a historic neighborhood and my most favorite place in DC. Georgetown has an eclectic blend of shops, boutiques, bakeries and restaurants, and its streets lined with Georgian mansions and Victorian row houses give this neighborhood a lovely small-town feel. If you ever decide to visit the capital of the United States, make sure to visit this district, I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Зачастую люди ассоциируют Вашингтон (округ Колумбия) с Белым Домом, с Капитолием и монументами. В своё время у меня тоже было о Вашингтоне такое представление из учебника по английскому. Но я бы хотела вас познакомить с районом Вашингтона, который называется Джорджтаун (Georgetown), моим самым любимым районом города. Джорджтаун - это исторический район Вашингтонa со множеством магазинов, бутиков и самых разнообразных ресторанчиков, с вымощенными улицами, застроенными старинными особняками и викторианскими домами. Здесь очень уютно и красиво. Если вы когда-нибудь окажетесь в столице Америки, не забудьте посетить Джорджтаун, я очень надеюсь, что вы его полюбите так, как люблю его я.
